Spring Sunflowers 🌻

26th Mar 2021

What a busy week we’ve had in Nursery exploring Spring!
At the beginning of the week we went for a walk to look for signs of spring around the school grounds. We found shoots beginning to poke out of the ground, lots of buds ready to open on the trees and plants, some daffodils and other bright flowers, the windmill was turning in the breeze and the rain gauge had some spring shower rain in it. Although it was bright and sunny it was still chilly so we wrapped up in our coats, and we could hear lots of birds busy building nests in the trees.

Later in the week we read a story called ‘Sam Plants a Sunflower’. It was a brilliant story and we found out how to plant a sunflower, what it needs to grow and what happens to the seeds when it dies. We enjoyed talking about the lifecycle of the sunflower and learned that we have to be patient waiting for flowers to grow.

We were so lucky to plant our own sunflowers just like Sam and we can’t to watch them grow!!
